entry for Strawberry Jam 2025 theme 'hypnosis'

this windows app does require a game controller.

the idea is to gaze at the object that interests you. go for a nice walk around the place, see what you can do :)

i'm a c/c++ procedural (audio) developer, there are no game engines, resources, textures, samples, or data of any kind.

this was intended to be the initial work for Bouncing Beauties 2, but i think the topology was rushed, so it's dev showcasing :p

may 13 2025 minor updates: added infolog comments and minor fix to improve gpu compatibility

compiles:

the x64 build is for windows 11, the x86 build is standard old win32 (windows).

Hey, I had the same issue as the other guy and the blue screen of death is still very much a thing even after the update on both builds. Before the game opens, I get some errors on wine:

Fragment Shader Error
0:205(6): warning: `mist' used uninitialized
0:287(2): error: vector size mismatch for arithmetic operator
0:287(2): error: could not implicitly convert error to vec3
Shader Program Error
error: linking with uncompiler/unspecialized shader

Maybe this was the cause all along?

I look forward to playing the game.

i was passing vec4 color without casting it to vec3 in my sky material. thanks for sticking with it to the point of me implementing error reporting :p no more time constraints for this dev.

I'm not certain why, but I've been trying to play this game since it's first upload, and only ever get a blue screen. Not a computer crash, but the game only displays blue. I can hear the game, 'cause I use my controller and I hear things happening, but it's only ever blue. I've used every x86 and x64 version you've uploaded (I'm on 11, so it should be 64) since, as well as downloaded via the itch app and manually, but nothing I've done has worked. I genuinely have no idea what is causing it, but Im unable to ever see the game.
